Happy Sunday funday!
I love days like today, it’s a perfect quiet day. I went on a little solo adventure to Boulder to do some journaling at the top of the Lost Gulch overlook. I sat up there for about half hour, legs dangling off the slide of the cliff lost in my own thoughts and with a stellar view before me. It felt nice to just be. As the time passed, the warmer it felt under the sun so it was my cue to get my errands done. But now I’m back and I have the place to myself for a few hours so I’m sitting out on my balcony where the sun is warm, the skies are blue, and music flowing in my ears. It’s so peaceful right now, home sweet home, and it’s putting me in the mood to write.
So today, I wanted to share a really neat trailhead Andrew and I found in Breckenridge, and probably my favorite trail so far. Mind you, Andrew and I don’t have a ton of hiking experience, but we’re good on our feet and can follow a trail- it’s a great start! We really just started this year and are very much so moderate hikers. But the more we’re doing it, the more we love it. After a good old fashion google search, I discovered McCullough Gulch, the hike was labeled ‘moderately difficult’ online but for the waterfall at the end, I was sold!
McCullough Gulch Trailhead
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: You can throw McCullough Gulch Trailhead right into your GPS and it’ll take you exactly where you need to be. So when we went, we didn’t know what to expect but the ultimate goal was to find the gulch. And little did I know, it was very easy to get to. Note to self- Come equipped with bug spray!!!
The views along the way gave me all the feels!
So you’ll get to a point not far into the hike where you you’ll hear the creek and suddenly be on the gulch. From there, you can continue on the hiking path or you can just jump into the woods to explore all around the creek and find the waterfalls. We took the latter. Oh it was so gorgeous.
Y’all know when and where there’s water, I love getting up close and personal to it. And that’s what we did. We were all up in it, refreshing as ever!!!
We’d explore a little and then find a spot to just perch ourselves up on alongside the falls, it was so amazing to be there. So happy with that find. The more I explore the more I fall in love with Colorado. As if you’ve never heard me say that before LOL.
Once we finished up, we decided to head into downtown Breckenridge for a late lunch. It’s nice because they blocked off their main street so that the restaurants can have extra outdoor seating on the road. There’s something so charming and lovable about Breckenridge, there really is, the atmosphere fills me to the gills with love. Hands down my favorite ski town. The place that started it all for me. After we ate, we moseyed around a bit (with coffee in hand of course!) and sat by the Blue River that runs through the park adjacent to downtown.
A perfect way to spend a Saturday!
How was your weekend? Did you take a day trip? What are some of your favorite local spots near where you live?
